⚠️ Important note specific to this tool Unlike the rest of the site's tools (which process everything locally in your browser), this dictation tool relies on your browser's built-in speech recognition technology (the Web Speech API), which sends your audio to a cloud recognition engine (Google's service in Chrome, for example) to convert it to text. There's currently no local alternative with comparable accuracy in browsers. If full privacy matters to you for this task, use the OCR Text Extractor tool instead (that one runs entirely locally).

Dictation language

Why does it need microphone access?

The tool needs microphone permission to hear your speech and convert it to text. Your browser will ask for permission once, and you can revoke it anytime from your browser settings.

Why does it sometimes stop?

Some browsers automatically stop speech recognition after a long pause — the tool tries to restart automatically, but if something goes wrong, just click "Start dictation" again.
